Greetings all! How are you? I wanted to share some of my day with you.
I just came from my bestie’s niece’s birthday party—an adorable three-year-old celebrating at Chuck E. Cheese. For some, it’s just another kids’ party, but for me, it was a moment of reflection on the power of love, connection, and the way God moves in our lives.
Watching that little girl surrounded by her village—her mom, her uncle, my bestie and her husband (who she lovingly calls Pop-Pop)—reminded me of what it means to be truly covered. She is wrapped in love, supported by people who pour into her without condition. And that’s something I don’t take lightly. Family isn’t just blood—it’s the people God assigns to us, the ones who show up, time and time again.
And then there’s my bestie—someone I can’t even remember the exact moment we became close. It’s wild because we were introduced by someone who didn’t even have good intentions—someone who, in their own manipulative way, kept us from even knowing the other existed. Yet, God still made sure we found each other. Not just for that season, but for something greater.
At the time, she had a huge friend group—10 to 15 people, all calling each other family. And then, slowly but surely, people started disappearing, including the very person who introduced us. I saw it coming, but still, it was something to witness. God clears the path, even when we don’t understand why.
I was taught that friendships were measured by time. However, I was misled. Time means nothing without consistency, effort, and genuine energy. I’ve never been one to have a big circle—people used to call it “weird,” but I now realize I was just energy-sensitive. I’ve always been mindful of who I allow into my space because not everyone deserves access. And the best part? I know I’m not alone in this. Social media has shown me that there are so many others who feel the same way, and that validation has been refreshing.
The Gratitude That Finds Me
Then, there are these moments—these waves that hit me, often when I least expect them.
Not just at celebrations like today, but in the quiet. In the in-between. While I’m driving, in the middle of a conversation, or just sitting in silence, suddenly, I feel so full. Full of appreciation, full of love, full of awe at how God continues to show up in my life.
And when it comes, I have no choice but to shout to God and thank Him for His glory and goodness! Because when I look back at everything—every twist, every loss, every divine connection—I see His hand in it all.
So if you’re reading this, let this be your sign:
Get up. Get dressed. Show up for the people who pour into you. And when that rush of gratitude finds you, don’t hold it in. Let it out. Praise GOD (or however you worship😊).
Because if you don’t leave feeling refreshed, they are not your people. And don’t fret, you’ll find them when you least expect it.
If no one told you today, you matter.💜
